Rejoice. Count your blessings. Discover paradise.

The avalanche of celebrity breakups is a boon in disguise for us. Of course, it’s ghoulish to prey upon celebrity divorces. It’s perverse to spit into their crystal palace – or pee into their goldfish bowl.  It’s demoniac to relish their ugly skeletons. It’s voyeuristic,  it’s parasitic. It’s –

– cathartic. Liberating. Introspective. Epiphanic.

You see that millionaire Adonis with the killer dance moves & a billion drooling fans? Well, his wife is all smiles as she celebrates escape from his gilded cage.

See that gal whose taut globes are the envy of the globe; who has fame & wealth firmly scissored between her equally taut calves? Well, her husband is straining at the leash & frothing at the mouth.

Krishn’s third mother

It’s often said ‘’ A child gives birth to a mother.’’ Indeed he did.

Krishn’s third mother is Putana – the demoness who was Kamsa’s emissary of death. The ogress who had a single mission – to poison baby Krishn. Her easiest access was to breastfeed him poison.

The action of matrutva, that one act of motherly love elevated her to a Matrika. Putana stands shoulder to shoulder with the uterine rights of Devaki and the tender rights of Yashoda.

A symbol, perhaps, that there’s always scope for reform.

He did say that a soul gets rebirth and another chance at redemption.

“On your toes, comrades! The enemy borders are leaky, their defenses are down, the field is ripe & wide open. Their blood is half toxins, half hatred. This is the perfect time to attack,’’ spit out their chief.

“Will you be watching our backs?” enquired one of the young ones.

“Certainly not, kiddo. It’s war, not a picnic. Each one for himself. That’s how we succeed over and over.”

The youngest recruit juggled the duffel bag, “Why aren’t we allowed to carry munchies? I feel hungry on these missions.” Continue reading →

She noticed the magazine advertisement for Fair & Lovely cream. The usual promise of utopia, of turning a shade –  or hopefully, three shades lighter. Surely women should have the guts to accept their natural tint! she smirked.

She sensed the parlour attendant hover behind her chair and murmured, “Honey gold highlights, please. And of course, straighten out those darn curls of mine too.”

The parlour attendant rolled her eyes … Surely women should have the guts to accept their natural tint!

Lovenest

I’m the womb where ardor & promises are born

I’m the tomb where ardor & promises drown

I cherish dreams as I grow brick by brick, stone by stone

My roof stands joyous witness to every whisper and moan

lovenest

I’m the envy of the neighborhood

privy to cuddles & kisses

to misty futures & imminent hopes

to throbbing orgasms on a floor of wood

embrace

Ah, but fickle love snuffs out

Shrugged off, used & abused

Wrung dry of all rasa in indecent haste

Redundant as a leaky condom flicked in the waste

empty nest syndrome

Robbed of novelty & longevity

Emotions fizzle out into brevity

Far apart have my cozy birds flown

My wounds into scars have grown

Their moments wither, but memories survive in my hearth

Neither inert nor lifeless, my empty nest awaits rebirth

desolate home

Har ghar kuch kehta hai (Every home tells a story)

The trauma of transitory infatuations  –

borne by the abandoned love pads of ephemeral lovebirds.

Can a house forget the moments & emotions which its human occupants toss aside so nonchalantly?

Is every non-living thing necessarily lifeless?
