Did you know that Krishna was one of the earliest advocate of Yoga? On the eve of 21st June, International Yoga Day, lets see his views on Yoga.

  • Shri bhagavån uvåca – imaµ vivasvate YOGAM proktavån aham avyayam vivasvån manave pråha manur ikßvåkave’bravît

[I instructed this Science of Yoga to Vivaswan, who taught Manu, who taught it to Ikshvaku]- [Bhagavad Gita, CHAP 4, VERSE 1] Krishn’s yoga, is however, NOT limited to asanas or pranayama. It goes beyond physical flexibility or breathing techniques.

  • YOGA comes from word YUJYA = to join or to connect.

Foremost, Krishn systematically analyzes the body and soul through Sankhya. He makes a clearcut distinction. The ephemeral body versus the eternal Soul. spirit-energy-body The body is bound to disintegrate and destruct. The Soul within the body is indestructible. It will eventually adopt a new body for its journey in quest of peace. Hence, Krishn defines Yoga as union of this eternal Soul (Atma) to God Krishna (Parmatma).

  • He advocates 4 TYPES of Yoga  to achieve this purpose –

1] Karma-Yoga: via actions. 2] Gyana-Yoga : Continue reading →

I decided to reserve one slot per month on rejuvenating previous posts.
The flashback often surprises yourself as a writer. ‘Did I really pen it? Did I actually manage to seize an idea within words?”
So, in an era of increasing tug-of-war between intolerance and freedom of expression, here goes …

Part I discussed the horror of social outcasts. Click here for Part I.

Given the deep psychological  and physical impact of social ostracism, can it be used as a weapon?

Think of criminals who wiggle out of Law’s grasp – slimy politicians, rich businessmen’s spoilt kids, sleazy Godmen and murderous filmstars. law

For them ‘Absence of evidence is Evidence of absence.’ And we all know where, how, when evidence evaporates, don’t we?

They smugly taunt us from their ivory towers, assured of their uninterrupted  social invitations, guaranteed that wife/parents/followers/fans will ‘stand by them through thick and thin’.

I wonder how many producers would ‘Stand by them’ if the on-trial filmstar was a flop actor unable to rake in the moolah? Too obviously, the ‘support’ stems from the mind-boggling ‘crores’ of financial benefits – rather than moral reasons.

The martyred wife ‘stands by her victimized husband’, even if every evidence screams his crime, even when she is fully convinced of his ugly side. Reason?– family, children, social status, financial dependence.

The Party supports its ‘candidate’, even if his crime tally mounds up. Needless to say, the support exists only till both sides ‘need each other’.

Aam-Janta, the Common Man as judge.

So why don’t we use this very deadly ‘social ostracism’ weapon against the above? Hit them where it hurts! Continue reading →

Q. 1] Are you member of any group?

Q. 2] Do you practice groupism?

How many of you nodded for 1 and negated for 2?

Group and Groupism

‘Group’ carries positive vibes.

A slice of humanity held together by free will and voluntary minds. A hobby, a favorite filmstar, a sport, a belief, a profession can unite us.

It is a survival tactic. We are social animals. We love to cluster, co-operate and collaborate in herds aka groups.

‘Groupism’ , on the other hand, carries negative connotations. It is a method to isolate and alienate.   Social ostracism

Us vs Them.

What happens when we are kicked out? Snubbed? Ostracized by society?

Rahul Yelange & wife Poornima.

Climbed Mount Everest in year 2012. Ostracized in year 2015.

Pride of Raigad in 2012. Outcast by Raigad in 2015.

2 young lives lost. Yes, but WHO IS GUILTY?

Today, I read an article. Two bikers tried to overtake a LandRover, got cornered, were thrown across the divider and were crushed to death by a tanker going in the opposite direction.

The newspaper promptly pronounced the LandRover driver guilty of ‘rash and negligent driving’.

My sympathies for the 2 dead young men. But sympathy cannot be the basis of a verdict. Sympathy cannot cloud Continue reading →
